LEAP: A Rapid Neural Surrogate Accelerates Plasma Interaction Modeling for Europa's Ocean Characterization
LEAP is a novel transformer-based surrogate model designed to rapidly predict magnetic field perturbations caused by the interaction of Jupiter's plasma with Europa's ocean. It achieves a 40,000x speed-up over traditional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) models, evaluating in milliseconds with high accuracy comparable to the parent MHD code. This acceleration facilitates large-scale parameter surveys and probabilistic analyses, establishing a new paradigm for plasma interaction modeling applicable to current and future space missions.
